The Ministry of General Education and the Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the South Sudan Football Association in the field of the promotion of football in schools.
The memorandum was signed after all parties agreed that it is important to recognise the fact that government has an essential role to play in sports development in addition to promoting and strengthening a culture of peace.
Through the creation of well-established and organised football activities in schools, it can promote discipline, mutual respect, national spirit, solidarity and social inclusion. In addition, it can give school children the opportunity to play football and contribute to building our future national teams at U-15, U-17 and U-20 level.
The Minister of General Education, Deng Deng Hoc Yai, the Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, Awut Deng Acuil and SSFA President Francis Amin all took part in the signing of the memorandum and expressed excitement at the plans that have been created. Both parties shall establish a special body at both state and national levels to manage football training and competition in schools (basic and secondary) at all levels.
