Members of the Council for East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) will meet in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on February 10th to map a way forward for competitions in 2019.
Abdiqani Said Arab, the CECAFA Vice President said the meeting will be very important so that the members plan for the region.
“We have had issues with our tournaments especially last year and we think since all the CECAFA member Presidents will be in Addis Ababa to attend a FIFA function, then they can use the opportunity and meet.
Last year the regional body only managed to host the U-20 tournament in Burundi and the Women’s Championship in Rwanda. The Senior Challenge Cup, CECAFA Kagame Club Championship and the U-20 Championship did not take place.
“We need to plan better as a region and we need the effort of every member,” added Arab. The South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) President Francis Amin Micheal is also expected to attend.
The 12 CECAFA members include; Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Rwanda, Burundi, Sudan, South Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea, Somalia and Ethiopia.
