The 2019 season for the Council for East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) region will kick-off in July with the Kagame Club Championships.
“We shall start with the the CECAFA Kagame Cup towards end of June and early July in Rwanda,” Nicholas Musonye, the CECAFA Secretary General said on Monday.
The development follows meeting on Monday attended by Federation Presidents from the region at Jupiter International Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Francis Amin Micheal, the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) President also attended the meeting.
He made it clear that after missing out on staging the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup last year, Uganda has accepted to host the event this year between December 1-19th.
“Presidents of Federations and CECAFA have agreed that we shall have a busy 2019 with seven Championships,” explained Musonye.
The members also agreed that Eritrea hosts the boys U-17 tournament, while the Women’s Championship will take place in Tanzania. The others events on the calendar include; the Girls U-17 and the Boys and Girls U-20 competitions.
South Sudan is expected to field teams in all the seven CECAFA competitions lined up for the year 2019.
