South Sudan’s U-23 team will travel to Egypt today to prepare ahead of their U-23 Africa Cup of Nations /2020 Olympic qualifier game against Tunisia.
The South Sudan U-23s ejected Uganda Kobs in the previous round 2-1 on goal aggregate.
Francis Amin Michael, President of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) confirmed on Thursday that the team will travel before they return to battle Tunisia. “We decided that the team pitches camp in Egypt and possibly play a few games,” added Amin.
“This qualifier means a lot to us and that is why we have made sure the team prepares in Uganda and Egypt before the game,” added the President of the Association.
South Sudan will host Tunisia on March 20 in Juba before traveling for the return leg in six days.
The third and final round of the qualifiers will be held from June 3-11 to determine seven teams to join hosts Egypt.
The 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations is scheduled for Nov. 8-22. The top three countries automatically qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games football tournament.
