The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has today confirmed that the first round matches of the 2020 Total Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) will take place between July 26-28th.
South Sudan’s Bright Stars will host the Uganda Cranes first before the return leg is played in Kampala between August 2 – 4th.
However, the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) executive Committee and Board will have to decide where the first leg match will be played because the Juba Stadium will still be under renovation.
The winner over two legs will battle the winner between Rwanda and Somalia in round two.
The other pairings in the Central East Zone will see Tanzania facing Sudan, while Kenya battle Burundi. Eritrea and Djibouti did not enter the qualifiers.
Forty-seven teams will engage in the qualifiers to determine the 15 teams that qualify to join automatic qualifiers Ethiopia who are the hosts.
The Democratic Republic of Congo are the record winners with two titles as Morocco are the reigning champions.
