South Sudan’s national football team, Bright Stars have embarked on preparations ahead of their last Group C match of the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier.
The Bright Stars are bottom of the Group having lost all the five game. But head coach Ramzi Sebiturges has made it clear that they must battle to complete the qualifiers well with a positive result in Bamako.
Mali who top the Group with 11 points having won three games and drawn twice have already qualified for the 2019 Afcon to take place in Egypt.
The Bright Stars are training at the Juba Stadium ahead of the match on March 23rd in Bamako. “After the qualifiers we shall start building a much stronger national team. We are also in the process of bringing on board a new coach,” said the South Sudan Football Association President, Francis Amin Micheal.
South Sudan’s U-23s are still battling in the Olympic/2019 U-23 Afcon qualifiers. They eliminated Uganda in the first round and will now face Tunisia in the first leg on March 20th in Juba.
