The National football team, Bright Stars traveled to Bamako, Mali on Wednesday ahead of their last game of the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier.
Francis Amin Michael, President of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) said they will start rebuilding the national team after this 2019 Afcon qualification campaign.
“We have decided that we must rebuild our teams at all levels and some of the players in the U-23 team could find their way in the senior team. We must build for the future,” added the President.
SSFA President said the Bright Stars team finally traveled after the Mali Football Federation sent in the letter from the Mali Immigration stating that the team would get visas on arrival.
South Sudan are bottom of Group C in the qualifiers, while Mali have already qualified. Burundi who are second in the group will qualify for the 2019 Afcon if they beat or draw against third placed Gabon in their last game.
