FIFA, UN Women sign partnership
Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the UN Women which will help benefit women around the world through football.
The partnership was signed on June 7th in Paris, France during the FIFA Women’s Football Convention.
Francis Amin Michael, the President South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) together with the Secretary General Anthony John Lauro and the Chairperson of Women Committee, Marina Christopher also attended the Convention 2019, in France on Friday.
“I hope that this memorandum helps us spread the word, because football has more power to reach out to people than any speech at the UN,” said Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women.
The convention discussed challenges hindering the development of women sport’s in the world among other things.
Amin said on Tuesday that it was a very fruitful Convention where they learnt a lot. “We are determined to develop football among the women in South Sudan in a big way. We want to start with the women’s League in 2020,” said Amin.
