The South
Sudan Football Association (SSFA) has confirmed that the national team, Bright
Stars will play their 2020 Total Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers
in Kampala, Uganda.

Michael, the SSFA President said the CHAN qualifying home games for South Sudan
will be played in Kampala because of the on-going renovation at the Juba
National Stadium.
“The team
has started training under new coach Cyprian Besong Ashu ahead of our game
against Burundi,” said Amin.
Edgar
Watson, the Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of Uganda Football
Associations (FUFA) also confirmed that they received SSFA’s request and have
no problem with it.
South South
will face Burundi in the first round of the qualifiers with the first round to
be played between July 26-28th in Bujumbura and the return leg in Kampala
August 2-4.
The winning
team will face the winner between Uganda and Somalia in the last phase of the
qualifiers. Djibouti, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Kenya are the other members in the
Council for East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) that
registered to play in the 2020 CHAN qualifiers.
Cameroon will
host the 2020 CHAN tournament which is played by locally based players playing
in the domestic leagues of the respective countries. Morocco are the defending
champions of the tournament.
