The Bright Star will face Seychelles in the preliminary round of the 20121 Total Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON) qualifiers.
In the draw conducted at the Marriot Hotel on Thursday in Cairo, Egypt South Sudan will battle Seychelles over two legs later this year and the winning team will join Group B that has Uganda, Malawi and Burkina Faso.
“We shall
make sure our team prepares well for the qualifiers. We shall take every match
as it comes and we first want to make sure we qualify for the group stage,” said
Francis Amin Micheal, the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) President.
The other matches in the preliminary round will see Liberia face Chad, Mauritius battle Sao Tome e Principe and Djibouti facing Gambia.
The draws attended by CAF President Ahmad Ahmad were conducted by Africa’s football legends Nkwankwo Kanu (Nigeria) and Senegal’s Kalilou Fadiga among others.
Two team
from each of the 12 groups will qualify for the 2021 to be hosted by Cameroon.
