to face Equatorial Guinea in FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifier
South Sudan’s
Bright Star will face Equatorial Guinea in the preliminary round of the FIFA
World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifiers.
In the draws conducted at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Cairo, Egypt on Monday, the two legs will be played between September 2-10th.
South Sudan
was among the 28 teams in Africa that have been drawn to start in the preliminary
round.
The 14 teams
that qualify from the preliminary stage will join the top 26 ranked CAF teams
and will be drawn into ten groups of four teams each. The leaders of each group
will qualify for the final round of the qualifiers.
The other
teams from the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations
(CECAFA) that have been drawn in the preliminary include Ethiopia taking on
Lesotho, while Somalia battle Zimbabwe.
Eritrea will take on Namibia, while Sudan face Chad and Rwanda face Seychelles. Djibouti who return to international football since 2017 will play Eswatini (Swaziland) and Tanzania battle Burundi.
The FIFA
World Cup in Qatar slated for November 21st to December 18th December 2022 will
have five teams representing the African continent.
