South Sudan’s Bright Star off to Malabo
The national football team, Bright Star have traveled to Malabo ahead of their return leg FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifier against Equatorial Guinea.
Francis Amin Micheal, President of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) confirmed part of the team traveled on Wednesday night, while others left this afternoon from Khartoum, Sudan.
“We decided that the team travels early ahead of the return leg on September 8th,” added the SSFA President.
On Wednesday the Bright Star fought from a goal down to force a 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea in the first leg match played at the neutral Al Hilal Stadium in Omdurman, Khartoum.
SSFA President made it clear that the team still has a chance to re-write history and qualify for the group stage of the World Cup qualifiers.
The winner between South Sudan and Equatorial Guinea will qualify for the group stage of the qualifiers.
