Bright Star target vital win in Malabo
South Sudan’s Bright Star will be all out to try and collect a win against Equatorial Guinea when the two sides clash this evening in the return leg of the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifier
The match will take place at the Estada de Malabo.
After a 1-1 draw in the first leg played in Khartoum, Sudan last Wednesday, coach Ashu Cyprian Besong thinks they have a chance.
“We are playing away from home and against a side we played few days ago. But have a chance and only have to be very cautious and also take our chances,” said the Bright Star coach.
Besong made it clear that it would be very important to score an early goal which will put the hosts on pressure. “We must defend with a lot of caution and also make sure we hunt for goals,” he added.
But Equatorial Guinea’s coach Angel Lopez has said his players must improve today. “We are playing in-front of our fans and this calls for a better show than we did in the first leg,” added the coach.
The winner after two legs will qualify for the group stage of the qualifiers.
The other preliminary games for the qualifiers to take place on Sunday include Tanzania hosting Burundi and Sierra Leone facing Liberia.
