Head coach
of South Sudan’s Bright Star, Ashu Cyprian Besong has said he will keep
building the national team and positive results will soon start coming.
Besong made
it clear after South Sudan lost 1-0 yesterday to hosts Equatorial Guinea in the
return leg of the preliminary round of the FIFA World Cup 2022 that he is happy
with the positivity of the players.
“I think we
gave a good account and showed focused play in the two legs. The most important
think as a coach is the fact that there is cohesion with the team,” added
Besong.
The Bright
Star were ejected 2-1 on goal aggregate after drawing 1-1 in the first leg in
Khartoum last week and losing 1-0 on Sunday. The coach said they need to keep
working hard as they prepare for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon)
qualifier against Seychelles.
Francs Amin
Michael, the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) President said despite
falling to Equatorial Guinea, he is happy that the Bright Star are improving.
“Football is
a process and now we are building. We need to prepare well for the Seychelles
games on next month,” added the President.
In the other
games played on Sunday Tanzania ejected Burundi 3-0 on penalties after the game
ended 1-1, while Ethiopia also qualified for the next round after picking a 1-1
draw away in Lesotho.
