South Sudan drawn against Somalia for regional Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup
The national U-20 team has been drawn alongside Somalia and Burundi in Group C for the Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup slated for September 21st to October 5th in Uganda.
Nicholas Musonye, the Cecafa Secretary General announced on Saturday during a press conference at the Imperial Royal Hotel in Kampala that 11 teams have confirmed participation.
South Sudan will open their campaign against Burundi on September 23rd before their last group game against Somalia on September 26th. The best two teams from Group C will join the other six from the two other groups for the quarter finals.
All teams in Group A will play at the Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu (337 km from Kampala), while Group B and C will play at the Fufa Technical Centre, Njeru.
Last month Cecafa organized the U-15 Challenge Cup in Asmara, Eritrea. Uganda humbled Kenya 4-0 in the final to emerge champions.
Group A – Uganda, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti
Group B – Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Zanzibar
Group C – Burundi, South Sudan, Somalia
