CECAFA U-20 CHALLENGE CUP: Burundi stand in South Sudan’s way
It’s action time as South Sudan will open their campaign against Burundi this afternoon in the 2019 Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup.
The Group C match will take place at the Fufa Technical centre, Njeru. But before action in Group C Sudan will kick-start the tournament with a game against Djibouti in Group A at the Pece War Memorial Centre in Gulu
Hosts Uganda will play the second Group A game Eritrea also in Gulu district (337 km out of the capital Kampala).
South Sudan’s Coach Simon James Yor has said picking a good result in the opening game will be very important. “We shall take every game so seriously because this is a tournament which is good for our youngsters in gaining international exposure,” added the coach.
Yor’s team will face Somalia in the last Group C match on September 25th. The best two teams in Group C will join the top three in Group A and B for the quarter finals.
Nicholas Musonye, the secretary General has made it clear that this tournament is good for the youngsters in the region.
“These youth football tournaments will continue to help our youngsters develop better because they are the stars of tomorrow,” added Musonye.
The tournament sponsored by FIFA has attracted 11 teams excluding Rwanda who have a busy schedule.
