We must stop Somalia – skipper Solong

South Sudan’s skipper Daniel Samuel Solong has said they must be at their best to stop Somalia in their last Group C match at the on-going Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup in Uganda.

The South Sudan U-20 team kicked started the campaign with a 3-3 draw against Burundi last Saturday.

“We need to be very focused and fight to win the game against Somalia. We are determined to make it to the quarter final stage,” added the captain.

Solong said they must improve in defending because they did not play well in defence against Burundi. “We have a chance and we shall go and play our hearts out,” added the captain.

The match between Somalia and Burundi on Monday at the Fufa Technical Center will be important for the South Sudan team too. The other games on Monday will see Eritrea take on Sudan, while Djibouti face Uganda in Group A games at the Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu.

The regional tournament sponsored by FIFA and started last weekend has so far witnessed five games.
