Giant telecommunication company MTN agree to support South Sudan Football
Leading telecommunication company, MTN South Sudan have agreed to support South Sudan football.
Lily Zondo, the deputy Director of MTN South Sudan made the announcement yesterday during a meeting with officials of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA).
MTN South Sudan and SSFA agreed to work together with all that is left is signing an agreement. Vice President of SSFA Venasio Amoum thanked MTN South Sudan for coming forward to show readiness to start supporting football in South Sudan.
The development comes after South Sudan’s national football team, Bright Star ejected Seychelles 3-1 on aggregate to qualify for the group stage of the 2021 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).
South Sudan will now start their 2021 Afcon qualifying group campaign with a game away to Malawi before hosting Burkina Faso next month.
Besides looking for more sponsors for the national teams, SSFA is also scouting for companies to sponsor the South Sudan Football League.
