The groups
and fixtures for the 2019 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup will be announced on
Sunday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Nicholas Musonye, the Secretary General of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) said that they will release the groups and fixtures for both the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup and the Cecafa U-17 Women’s Challenge Cup of Sunday.
The two
regional tournaments will run between December 7-19th in Uganda.
South Sudan has entered both the senior men’s team and the U-17 women’s team
for the two tournaments.
“It is only
Rwanda among the members who will not participate. But from the three guest
nations that applied to take part, Libya has been considered,” he added.
Kenya are
the defending champions after stopping Zanzibar in the last final held in 2017.
“We are hopeful that these two tournaments that mark the climax of the season
will be successful,” added Musonye.
The teams
expected to feature in the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup include; Kenya,
Tanzania, Zanzibar, Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Burundi, Somalia,
Djibouti, Uganda and guests Libya.
