Amin to contest for CECAFA Vice Presidency during General Assembly


The President of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA), Francis Amin Michael has announced that he will vie for the Vice Presidency of the Council of East and central African Football Association (CECAFA).

Uganda will host the CECAFA Elective General Assembly on December 18th at the Silver Springs Hotel, Bugolobi.

“I am officially in the race for CECAFA Vice president. I will appreciate your support,” said Amin who has seen tremendous football developments in South Sudan since he was elected in

Amin has been SSFA President for about two and a half years after replacing embattled Chabur Goc Alei in 2017.

“I have acquired experience now and believe I have what it takes to serve football in the CECAFA region. I have the support of my fellow Presidents in the region,” said Amin.

Under the administration of Amin South Sudan football is steadily progressing with the national team performing better, structures being put in place, more football officials trained, women’s football finally kicking off and more sponsors coming on board.

The election will use the newly adopted statutes for Zones recommended by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to have a President, two Vice Presidents and 4 committee members.

“We shall use the newly adopted statues for Zones as recommended by CAF to elect new office bearers,” said CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye.

The President of the Ethiopia Football Association (EFA), Isayas Jira Bosho has also applied to vie for Vice presidency, while the President of the Tanzania Football Federation, Wallace Karia has applied to contest for the position of CECAFA President.

Mutasim Gafaar, the CECAFA President and his team had their term end last month.
