CECAFA General Assembly Approves tournaments for 2020
Rwanda and Sudan have been awarded the rights to host the Zonal qualifiers for the AFCON U-17 and U-20 respectively.
The decision was reached during the General Assembly of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) held at the Silver Springs Hotel in Kampala on Wednesday.
The Assembly attended by representatives from all the 12 members approved nine competitions for the 2020.
Djibouti for the first time will host the CECAFA U-16 Boys Challenge Cup, while the CECAFA Kagame Club Championship that attracts the top teams in the region will take place in Tanzania.
Burundi was awarded rights to host the CECAFA U-20 Challenge Cup and the CECAFA U-17 Women’s Challenge Cup.
Uganda will host the inaugural CECAFA U-20 Women’s Challenge Cup, while Rwanda will also host the CECAFA Women’s Challenge Cup.
Nicholas Musonye, the CECAFA Secretary General made it clear that it is only by having several competitions that football in the region will keep getting better.
