Dhata’s Vipers SC declared Uganda Premier League Champions
Vipers Sports Club, home to South Sudan’s U-20 international Stephen Joseph Dhata have been declared 2019/2020 Uganda Premier League Champions.
Dhata who has studied in Uganda and featured for Sudan in the CECAFA U-20 Championship last year was early this year contracted by Vipers SC, although he is yet to feature because of issues with his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), Eng. Moses Magogo made the announcement of Vipers SC’s being champions on Wednesday during a press conference at the Federation headquarters in Mengo, Kampala.
The development comes after all football activities in Uganda were prematurely stopped in March because of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“Because we must have completed the League by June 30th and with 75% of the league played, Vipers SC are the champions,” said Magogo also an executive member of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF).
Dhata will be eligible to feature for Vipers SC in the CAF Champions League in-case the Club settles his ITC issue and register him as part of the squad for the tournament.
