Club Champions League kickoff delayed

Transport and logistical challenges by clubs have forced the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) to delay the kickoff date for the 2019 South Sudan Club Champions League for Group A.

Daniel Gabriel, the SSFA Media Officer said on Monday that kickoff for Group A has now been pushed to May 22st. “Some of the teams have delayed to arrive at the venues for the matches and the Association decided to change the kick off date,” said Gabriel.

He also communicated that Group A matches that were to be played at Juba University will now take place at St. Paul Major Seminary ground. “After a meeting chaired by the Organising Committee Chairman, Wiyual Lam on Monday, Group A matches will now start on May 22,” said Gabriel.

On Wednesday the only Group A match to be played will see Atlabara FC battle against Koryom FC.

Group B will have their matches start on Monday at the Wau Stadium with Hilal FC facing Holy Family FC. Sobata Malakala FC will play Galb El Assad FC in the only Group C game at the Malakal Stadium on Monday.

Group games will climax on May 28th before the semi finals are played on June 6 and June 8th at the Wau Stadium. The final to be hosted by Wau Stadium will take place on June 10th.
