Bright Star travel to camp in Kampala ahead of 2020 Total CHAN qualifier

South Sudan’s national football team, Bright Star have traveled to Kampala, Uganda to camp ahead of a 2020 Total Africa Nations Championship qualifying tie against Burundi.

The Bright Star will face Burundi in the first leg of the qualifier in Bujumbura between July 26-28 before the return leg to be played in Kampala.

Led by the head of delegation Amar Abdallah, the contingent left by road on Tuesday afternoon. “We need to get time to train and prepare well ahead of the game in Burundi. Camping in Kampala is a great idea because it is where the return leg will be played,” said new South Sudan coach Cyprian Besong Ashu.

In-case South Sudan’s Bright Star eliminate Burundi they will face the winner between Uganda and Somalia in the last phase of the qualifiers.

The CHAN tournament is played by locally based players playing in the domestic leagues of the respective countries. Morocco are the defending champions.
