Government approves construction of 18,000 seater Stadium in Molobor

The government of South Sudan through the Council of Ministers has approved the construction of a new standard Stadium in Juba.

Francis Amin Micheal, President of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) revealed the good news on Saturday.

The Council of Ministers in it’s regular meeting on Friday approved and passed the memo on the construction of a new 18,000 seater stadium in the Northern Bari area of Molobor, east of Bilpam, Lado County.

“I am very happy by this decision taken by the Council of Minister of the Republic of South Sudan. This mean the government is working very hard to develop sports in South Sudan,” added Amin.

The Cabinet has also directed Dr. Nadia Arop Dudi, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and the leadership of SSFA to finalise the necessary paper work for the project to start.

The Stadium construction will be funded by a grant under the Chinese government to a tune of US$25 million. Chinese company Metallurgical Company (MCC Overseas) will construct the Stadium.

Currently South Sudan has only one standard Stadium in Juba which is also under renovation under a FIFA project.
