South Sudan battle Uganda in last 2019 Cecafa U-15 Challenge Cup Group B tie
The South Sudan team will face Uganda in their last Group B game at the on-going Cecafa U-15 Challenge Cup on Friday.
Coach Simon Albino Ajak has made it clear that although they have already lost three games, the tournament is a good ground to expose the young players.
“These youngsters will gain a lot in-terms of exposure at the end of this tournament. Of course playing Uganda in our last game will be tough because they have not yet lost,” added Ajak.
South Sudan opened their campaign with a 3-0 defeat to Rwanda, before falling holding Ethiopia to a 1-1 draw with Tet James Wicjong scoring the goal. In the third game South Sudan lost 6-0 to Tanzania.
But the coach has also blamed the heavy defeat to Tanzania on few days of rest of his team compared to others teams. “We played three games last than six days and that was too much for my players, “he added.
The second game on Friday will Tanzania take on Rwanda. Already Kenya who defeated hosts Eritrea 2-1 on Thursday together with Burundi have qualified for the semi finals.
The regional tournament which has attracted 10 teams is financed by FIFA.
