Egypt’s Al Ahly eject Atlabara FC in CAF Champions League
South Sudan’s Premier League champions Atlabara FC are out of the CAF Champions League after falling 9-0 to Al Ahly of Egypt last night at the Alexandria based Borg El Arab Stadium.
The Egyptian giants qualified for the first round of the lucrative tournament on a 13-0 goal aggregate having won the first leg 4-0 two weeks ago.
Hussein Elshahat netted a hat-trick, while Salah Mohsen and Hamdy Fathy picked a brace. Ahmed Fathy netted the other goal for the Red Devils and another own goal by Atlabara’s Mustafa Selim.
Al Ahly will now wait the winner of Equatorial Guinea’s Cano Sport and Ethiopia’s Mekelle in the first round next month, with a place in the lucrative group stage at stake.
South Sudan’s representatives in the CAF Confederations Cup Amarat FC will be in action on Sunday in the return leg against Tunisia’s Ben Guerdane FC. Amarat Fc lost the first leg 5-1.
