Coach Besong summons Bright Star squad to prepare for 2021 Afcon qualifiers

The head coach of South Sudan’s Bright Star, Ashu Cyprian Besong has today summoned a 32-man squad to start preparations ahead of a 2021 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier.

South Sudan will host Seychelles in the first leg of the preliminary round on October 7th in Khartoum before the return leg on October 15th in Victoria.

Daniel Gabriel, said the team of 22 foreign based players and 10 from Juba will embark on training before the end of the week.

Last week the President of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA), Francis Amin Michael said they are determined to qualify for the group stage of the 2021 Afcon qualifiers. South Sudan need to eliminate Seychelles two legs to qualify for the group stage.

In-case South Sudan qualify they will join Burkina Faso, Uganda and Malawi in Group B of the qualifiers. The group stage of the qualifiers kick start on November 11th.

The Bright Star was eliminated 2-1 on aggregate last week by Equatorial Guinea in the preliminary stage of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
