Cecafa adjust U-20 Challenge Cup fixture
The fixtures for the Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup slated for September 21st to October 5th in Uganda have been adjusted.
Nicholas Musonye, the Secretary General of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) made it clear the fixture especially for Groups B and C have been adjusted on technical grounds.
Instead all match days at the Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru will have three games in the group stage. The tournament will kick-off on Saturday with two Group A games at Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu.
South Sudan will face Burundi in the last game on September 22nd. Kenya and Zanzibar will open the Group B campaign before Ethiopia take on Tanzania.
Coach Simon James Yor Kak’s team will play their last group game against Somalia on September 26th. The best two teams in Group C will join the top three in Group A and B to qualify for the quarter finals.
The quarter finals will be played between September 29-30th, while the semi finals will take place October 2. The final and play-off for third place will take place October 5th.
Group A: Uganda, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti
Group B: Kenya, Ethiopia, Zanzibar, Tanzania
Group C: Burundi, South Sudan, Somalia
