South Sudan confirms date for 2021 Afcon qualifier against Seychelles
The South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) has confirmed that the preliminary first leg tie in the 2021 Total Africa of Nations (Afcon) against Seychelles will take place October 9th in Khartoum.
Francis Amin Michael said the match will be played at the Al-Merriekh Stadium in Omdurman.
“We decided to play the game in Khartoum as the Stadium in Juba is still under going renovation. The team is already in Khartoum preparing for that important game,” added the President.
Head coach of the Bright Star, Ashu Cyprian Besong has made it clear that it will be very important to get a good result before traveling for the return leg in Seychelles.
The coach invited 22 foreign based players and 10 from Juba. The Bright Star need to eliminate Seychelles two legs to qualify for the group stage. The return leg will be played on October 15th in Victoria.
In-case South Sudan qualify they will join Burkina Faso, Uganda and Malawi in Group B of the qualifiers. The group stage of the qualifiers kick start on November 11th.
