2021 AFCON QUALIFIERS: Coach Ashu Besong draws plan for Malawi match

Head coach of South Sudan’s national team, Cyprian Ashu Besong has said the team will start preparations on October 26th ahead of their first group game in the 2021 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers.

The Bright Star ejected Seychelles Pirates 3-1 on aggregate in the preliminary round to set up a Group B battle against Burkina Faso, Uganda and Malawi.

“We are going to start preparations on October 26th so that the players can have some time to be together. I hope it can also be possible to have a build-up game,” Ashu said on Tuesday afternoon when the team returned from Seychelles.

South Sudan will start their group qualifying campaign with an away match against Malawi on November 11th. The Bright Star will later host Burkina Faso on November 19th in a match likely to be played in Khartoum, Sudan.

South Sudan’s Joseph Kuch Nyuar with two goals already to his credit is among the leading scorers in the 2021 Afcon qualifiers together with Sao Tome and Principe’s Luis Leal with three goals.
