Women’s team in camp for regional Cecafa Challenge Cup
South Sudan’s Women’s team has stepped up preparations ahead of their first appearance in the Cecafa Senior Women’s Challenge Cup.
Head coach Moses Machar Akol said the team is responding well ahead of the tournament to take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
“We are concentrating on playing as a team,” said the coach. Akol made it clear that all the players who have been selected featured in the recent South Sudan Women’s Cup.
Francis Amin Micheal, President of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) said that now that they have started with women’s football, they will start allocating resources for them. “We need to plan well so that we develop bot men and women’s football in the country,” he added.
The South Sudan team is grouped alongside hosts and defending champions Tanzania, Burundi and Zanzibar in Group A. Group B has Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Djibouti.
Meanwhile, Cecafa has pushed the tournament to kick off on November 16th instead of the earlier date of November 14th.
