2021 AFCON QUALIFIERS: Coach Besong calls for more focus

The head coach of South Sudan national team, Ashu Cyprian Besong has called on players to remain focused in the on-going 2021 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers.

Besong said this on Sunday after Bright Star lost 2-1 to highly ranked Burkina Faso at the Khartoum Stadium in Sudan.

Veteran Aristide Bance scored two goals for the visitors in the first half before Jose Kuch Nyaur pulled one back in added time.

But Besong made it clear that although the team lost 1-0 away to Malawi and now lost another to Burkina Faso, the players must remain focused because it’s not over yet.

“We still have two games against Uganda, must host Malawi and play away to Burkina Faso. There are still many matches to be played although we must take our chances during games,” added the coach.

Uganda Cranes who beat Malawi 2-0 on Sunday now top Group B with a better goal difference than Burkina Faso, while Malawi Flames are third and South Sudan bottom.

The technical bench of the Bright Star will now shift focus to the 2019 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup to take place in Uganda between December 1-19th.
