South Sudan’s Amin elected 1st Vice President of regional body CECAFA
President of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA), Francis Michael Amin has been elected 1st Vice President of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA).
In a CECAFA General Assembly that took place at the SilverSprings Hotel in Kampala on Wednesday Tanzania’s FA President, Wallace Karia was also unopposed as CECAFA President for the next 4 years.
The Assembly decided that Amin becomes the first Vice President, while Ethiopia’s FA President Esayas Jira becomes the second Vice President.
“I am happy that fellow members have showed that they have trust in me. We need to work together as a team for the good o football in our region,” said Amin.
The President of the Eritrea National Football Federation, Abraham Esayas and the Rwanda FA boss Gen. Sekamana Jean Damascène were also picked as the two Board members.
The new CECAFA President Karia thanked all members for the support and called upon all the members to work as a team.
The elections followed the new Statute as recommended by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Out-going CECAFA President Mutasim Gafaar from Sudan thanked the members for the support he was given and called upon the new team to work hard to keep developing football in the region.
