South Sudan will not host Uganda Cranes in Juba Stadium – Amin
The South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) has confirmed that the Bright Star will not be able to host Uganda Cranes in the Juba National Stadium in a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.
Francis Amin Michael, the SSFA President confirmed on Wednesday that the Juba National Stadium which is under going renovation will not be ready by March this year when the match against Uganda will be played.
Group B table leaders in the qualifiers Uganda Cranes are meant to host the Bright Star on March 23rd in Kampala before the return leg on March 31st.
“We are now looking at other possibilities of where to host Uganda Cranes. May be we shall play in Khartoum where we have played some of our international matches before,” added Amin.
The Bright Star opened their campaign with a 1-0 away defeat to Malawi before falling 2-1 to Mali in their second game played at the Al Hilal Stadium in Khartoum, Sudan.
Uganda top the Group with 4 points, with one better goal advantage ahead of Mali who also have the same number of points. Malawi Flames are in third position with 3 points, while South Sudan are yet to get a point.
The best two teams from each group will qualify for the 2021 AFCON to take place in Cameroon.
