NILEPET-SSFA Pledges to Promote Sports in the States

The President of South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) and its Board of Directors on Tuesday evening met with Managing Director of Nile Petroleum Corporation (NILEPET), the duo pledges to promote sports in the states level in an effort to create unity among youths.

The meeting discussed ways forward on how SSFA and NILEPET will work together to develop sports in the country. During his briefing, Mr. Francis Amin explained problems facing sports. He also updated the meeting on current projects of SSFA including renovation of Juba Stadium and Buluk Playground.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of NILEPET, Dr. Chol Deng Thon Abel appreciated the effort exerted by SSFA to ensure that Juba Football Stadium is upgraded to international standard, urging the Association to do more in developing sports in the country.

Dr. Chol promises that NILEPET will recommit its effort to support sports’ activities, unveiling that NILEPET and SSFA are going to initiate some projects in the states to promote coexistence among youths who are involving themselves in conflicts.

Sport is a very unique way of promoting unity and coexistence among the people. The effort to ensure that sports’ activities are initiated among mostly youths who are participating in inter-communal conflicts is crucial in South Sudan. What SSFA and NILEPET is about to initiate will make a change, sport is a simple way to change the mindsets of youths from indulging themselves to useful people in their societies.
