This morning, the excitement was palpable at the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) headquarters, where the draw for the quarter-finals of the 14th South Sudan Cup took place. Attendees included key figures such as Mr. Augustino Maduot, the Association President, and Mr. Nelson Samuel from Zain, the tournament’s sponsor. The ceremony also saw participation from Mr. Wiyual Lam, Chairman of the Competitions Committee, and other important members of the SSFA.

The draw revealed thrilling matchups, with Gelb Asad FC set to face Aweil United in the first match, and Al-Merrikh Renk taking on Al-Merrikh Bentiu in the second. These matches are scheduled for April 21 at Juba Stadium. The following day, on April 22, Majak Ajuang will compete against Jamus SC, while Gold Star Rumbek will go up against Koryom FC. The structure of the tournament promises an electrifying progression, as winners from the initial matches will clash in the semi-finals.
During the ceremony, Maduot expressed gratitude to all participating teams, acknowledging their crucial role in ensuring the tournament’s success. He emphasised Zain’s ongoing commitment to supporting football in South Sudan, encouraging teams to persist in their efforts. Despite the challenges faced, he reiterated the Federation’s dedication to developing the sport and implementing key projects.

Augustino also revealed that the General Assembly of the Association is set to take place at the end of next month, ensuring everything is on schedule. He also shared that the procedures for taking over the presidency of the CECAFA are advancing smoothly, and the event will be held soon.
Mr. Wiyual Lam reinforced the importance of timely travel for all teams, urging them to arrive in Juba before the 18th of this month. He praised the strong participation in this edition of the tournament and expressed appreciation for the progress of local clubs.
