Yesterday, 6th June, 2025 marked a monumental day in South Sudan’s sports history as Yei Joint Stars clinched the championship title in the South Sudan Women’s Premier League. The match, held at the iconic Juba National Stadium, saw Yei Joint Stars deliver an impressive performance against Wajuma Women’s team, securing a decisive 2-0 victory. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Dr. Joseph Geng Akec, the National Minister of Youth and Sports, and Mr. Augustino Madut, the President of the South Sudan Football Association, who both celebrated this remarkable achievement.

This victory is not just a win; it symbolises the hard work and dedication of the Yei Joint Stars, marking their fifth championship title in history. The team’s resilience and skill on the field have truly paid off, demonstrating their commitment to excellence.

In addition to the championship title, individual accolades were awarded, with Mary Dawa from Yei Joint Stars being named the best player of the league. Meanwhile, the goalkeeper,

Nawal Isaac, earned recognition as the best goalkeeper from Yei Joint Stars, and Dorka Lito from Almerrikh Juba FC juba the same team, took home the title of top scorer.

This year’s league featured over twelve women’s teams, showcasing the growing talent and competitive spirit in women’s football across the nation.
