In the second week of the ongoing South Sudan Premier League, yesterday January 5, at the Juba National Stadium, El Merriekh SC Bentiu secured its first win in the league after a 5-1 thrilling victory over Nile City FC.
El Merriekh SC opened the scoreline with the first goal from Tot Mate who netted in the 14th minute of the game, then Nile City’s Tomba John equalized in the 28th minute.
Before the end of halftime, Akpeno Samuel changed the scoreline for Al Merriekh SC after scoring the second goal in the 27th minute while Chol Peter netted 2 goals in the 49th and 84th minute and another goal from Teluag Toor in the 75th, putting Al Merriekh SC in the lead with 5-1 scoreline which has moved the team to the fourth position in the table standing while Nile City FC remains without points in the penultimate place in the table standing.
Al Merriekh SC lost 2-0 in their opening fixture to Malakia SC while Nile City’s game against Al Merriekh SC was the first game in the premier league.
Meanwhile, Lion Hunters FC will battle Koryom FC today in the third week of the Premier League. Koryom FC tops the table
with 6 points while Lion Hunters in the fifth position with 3 points. Today’s game will be massive as Koryom FC looks forward to maintaining its position while Lion Hunters aiming at moving to a better position.
