The President of the South Sudan Football Association, Mr. Augustino Maduot today, Wednesday, 3rd July 2024, met with the ChargĂ© d’Affaires of the Sudanese Embassy in Juba, Ambassador Jamal Malik.
Presence at the meeting, were Sudanese players, administrators and referees residing in Juba. The representative of the Sudanese football fraternity in South Sudan, the International Referee, Al-Amin Al-Hadi, said that the meeting was aimed at introducing the officials of the Sudan Football Association and the ChargĂ© d’Affaires of the Sudanese Embassy in Juba to the South Sudan Football Association as well to launch a sports body that will represent Sudan sports activities, stating that the body will help the Sudanese sport’s practitioners in South Sudan with opportunities to continue practising their careers.
Al-Hadi revealed that the initiative has many ideas and programs that will be implemented in cooperation with the Sudanese community in South Sudan to extend a helping hand to all football practitioners in South Sudan.
On the other hand, a member of the Board of Directors of SSFA.
Thiong John, confirmed that the idea is crucial, especially since it is coming within the framework of joint work and solidarity among athletes in South Sudan.
The Secretary of the South Sudan Football Association, Victor Lawrence, welcomed the players who were recently included to play in South Sudan Clubs, saying that it would raise the level of competition in the country, and praising the Sudanese football fraternity for the initiative.
For his part, Mr. Jamal Malik, ChargĂ© d’Affaires of the Sudanese Embassy in Juba, thanked the people and government of South Sudan and the Football Association for their support to the Sudanese citizens in South Sudan especially the facilities provided by the SSFA to the Sudanese national team following its recent visit to South Sudan, praising the old relations between the two countries.
He said that the initiative will receive all the support from the embassy, calling on the athletes to represent Sudan in the best way in South Sudan. He also stressed that the relations between the two countries are living examples of the strength of the relations between them, calling for the need to work to develop this relationship to broader horizons, especially in light of the circumstances that Sudan is going through, pointing out that the large presence of the Sudanese community in South Sudan is evidence of the strong relationship between the two countries.
Meanwhile, the President of the South Sudan Football Association, Mr. Augustino Maduot, welcomed the visit of the ChargĂ© d’Affaires of the Sudanese Embassy in South Sudan to the headquarters of the association, saying that it will contribute to developing relations between the two countries through sports and diplomacy, praising the initiative undertaken by the players.
He assures that the South Sudan Football Association will communicate with the CAF and FIFA to discuss ways to support the Sudanese players present in the country.
