The South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) has announced the launch of its inaugural U20 and U17 football leagues in Juba, with 24 teams participating (12 in each category). Starting on December 18, 2023, and running until May 14, 2024, this initiative aims to nurture young talent and promote grassroots development. Juba is the initial venue, with plans to expand to other states in the following season.

The move reflects a commitment to age-appropriate development, providing a platform for youth players to showcase their skills. Separate leagues for U20 and U17 emphasize the SSFA’s dedication to fostering growth in a supportive and competitive environment.

The leagues are expected to contribute to the overall development of football in South Sudan, with an eye on international competitions. The SSFA, in collaboration with local companies, has implemented a robust framework to ensure fair play and adherence to guidelines.

Mr. Ariec Wol Ariec, CEO of Capital Pay / Crawford, has confirmed sponsorship for both leagues, demonstrating a positive alliance between the SSFA and the private sector. This collaboration aligns with Capital Pay / Crawford’s commitment to supporting youth and grassroots initiatives, contributing to the growth and well-being of aspiring football stars.

The financial support is anticipated to play a crucial role in organizing high-quality tournaments, providing necessary infrastructure, and facilitating participation from various regions. This partnership signifies a positive step towards private sector involvement in grassroots sports development, promoting values of teamwork, discipline, and dedication among young players.

Overall, the launch of the U20 and U17 leagues, coupled with private sector sponsorship, marks a significant milestone for South Sudanese football, laying the foundation for a strong and prosperous future.
