South Sudan Drawn in Group B for CECAFA U-20 AFCON Qualifiers

The South Sudan U-20 national football team has been drawn into Group B of the CECAFA African Cup of Nations (AFCON) U-20 qualifiers, where they will face Uganda, Ethiopia, and Burundi. The qualifiers are set to begin on October 7, 2024, with the top two teams in the group advancing to the U-20 AFCON finals.

South Sudan’s U-20 side will be aiming to replicate the success of their previous campaign, where they qualified for the 2023 AFCON U-20 tournament in Egypt after a thrilling penalty shootout victory over Ethiopia (4-3) in Khartoum, Sudan. In their debut AFCON appearance, the young Bright Star impressed by reaching the quarterfinals before falling to a strong Gambia side in a 5-0 defeat.

With this experience under their belt, the South Sudan U-20 team is determined to secure another AFCON qualification and continue building on their historic progress.
