In preparations for the upcoming grand opening of Juba National Stadium and FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers Group B match against Sudan, SSFA has conducted a Stewardship training which concluded today in Juba.
This training aims to enlighten the stewards on the security safety arrangements in the upcoming grand opening of Juba National Stadium and the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers Group B match against Sudan on Tuesday.
Speaking in the closing of the training, the president of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA), Gen. Augustino Madout congratulated the stewards for completing the training, saying the role of the steward is crucial, stating that the absence of stewards in a football game means the risk of chaos. He called on the stewards to take their roles diligently and ensure that the day will conclude successfully.
For his part, SSFA Secretary General, Mr. Victor Lawrence congratulated the trainees and urged them to display what they have learned in the two days of training in the pitch on Tuesday.
He reminded them that their dedication is not only crucial to themselves but also to the safety of the players and the fans. He called the stewards to take the roles that they are assigned to seriously both in and outside the pitch.
He appreciated the SSFA leadership for giving the go-ahead for the training to take place, saying that for the last four years, various capacity buildings have been taking place with the exceptions of Stewardship training, asserting that with the just concluded training, SSFA is moving in the right path.
Meanwhile, a FIFA & CAF Safety and Security Officer, Mr. Dixson Okello who was in charge of the training, commended the trainees’ enthusiasm that they have displayed both theoretically and practically, saying he is satisfied that the trainees have fully acquired the skills required to take on their roles. He urged the stewards to implement what they had learned in the field, advising them to obey the head’s command and keep teamwork spirit.
